Dubai World of Coffee: What Is Happening in the Green Coffee Market and What Roasters Should Prepare For
The international coffee exhibition in Dubai showed that the green coffee market is entering a new phase. Ethiopia is strengthening its position, Venezuela is returning to the global stage, and supply stability is becoming a key factor for roasters and coffee brands in Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkmenistan, and Azerbaijan.
In recent years, the green coffee market has become less predictable: origins are shifting, competition for stable lots is increasing, and spot purchases are increasingly turning into a risk. That is why we went to Dubai World of Coffee — not for inspiration, but to gain a clear understanding of how the market is actually structured today.
Ethiopia: Strengthening Its Presence
An exceptionally large number of Ethiopian suppliers were represented at the exhibition. This reflects not just growing interest, but a systematic expansion of the country’s export strategy. Ethiopia is consolidating its position as one of the key origins of green coffee — both for the specialty segment and for commercial roasters.
We met with our existing partner, Mystic Cup Stories, with whom we work on Ethiopian coffee. The main focus of the discussions was supply stability, lot quality, and long-term planning.
Venezuela: The Return of a Historic Player
One of the unexpected observations was the presence of green coffee suppliers from Venezuela. Historically, the country was a major exporter, but in recent years it has been almost absent from the international market.
Today, the situation is changing — in line with official statements about the development of the coffee industry in 2025.
“The Venezuelan coffee market today is a historic player going through a period of revival.”
We held negotiations with GSI Food and are considering potential cooperation in the future.
Exhibition Outcomes
As a result of the trip, we:
- expanded our pool of potential green coffee suppliers;
- laid the groundwork for more stable and diversified supply chains;
- held in-person meetings with our existing partners, Carmo Coffees and Ali Coffee, discussing current and future volumes.
What This Means for Roasters and Coffee Brands in the Region
For roasters and coffee brands in Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkmenistan, and Azerbaijan, the key takeaway is simple:in a changing market, those who work with structured supply chains — rather than one-off offers — gain a competitive advantage.
Our trip to Dubai was a practical step in strengthenin national partnerships. This allows us to provide access to green coffee with clear origin, predictable volumes, and stable supply for the regional market.
We do not observe the market from the sidelines — we operate within it and build supply chains systematically.
